These CSX coal hoppers have added extensions which allow
them to carry a larger supply of coke loads. Coke is a product
created by baking coal. The
process creates a porous and therefore lighter load than coal.
This clean burning product is largely used in the iron and
steel industries and often transported
by hopper railcars.
