With white lettering on an oxide red body, this 40’ double-sheathed wood box car with single door and vertical brake wheel worked for the V&T during the early 1900’s. The road was incorporated March 5, 1868 as a short line to serve the Gold Rush. By 1929, the V&T had 32 freight cars and 67 miles of track connecting Reno with Minden, and Virginia City with Carson City. The company utilized classic 4-4-0’s and 4-6-0’s right up to the last day of operation, May 31, 1950. Presently, portions of the line are being used as a tourist operation. Carson City is the location of the V&T Railroad Museum.
