50' Standard Box Car, Plug Door w/o Roofwalk

This 50’ Standard box car with plug door and no roofwalk is painted light gray with two large blue bands to the right
of the door. Heralds and lettering are all in black. It was built in April 1965 by National Steel Car, serviced in January
1981, and runs in Barber Roller Bearing trucks. The rebuild was completed in Canadian National’s Montreal Shops,
Point St. Charles, Quebec. To combat high energy costs, CN took five cars from the 283 series, removed their heating
equipment, improved their insulation, and renumbered them into the XPI “SuperTherm” 289 series.
