| This 50’ converted Troop Sleeper
is painted gold with silver band, black roof and ends. It bears
‘Rio Grande’ speed lettering in black. The car is lettered in
black. It was built in 1943 by Pullman-Standard, serviced in the
1960s, and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. This special car number
10 is a former Pullman troop sleeper that was rebuilt into a dynamometer
test car for evaluating locomotive performance. It has an engine
and generator to power its test systems. Like this car, troop
sleepers became surplus after WWII and were sold off to numerous
                railroads. |
