| These 100-ton
three bay covered hoppers with coal loads are painted black with
white logo and lettering. They were built by Greenville Steel
Car in February of 1979 and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks.
The cars in this series were leased from PLM Inc. and intended
to be used for service to a Sierra Pacific power plant, then under
construction. The ends were painted either white or, as in this
case, blue. The blue identifies the end of the car with a swivel
coupler; this allows the cars to be emptied using an in-train
rotary dumper. |
