This 50’
Standard Box Car is painted blue with white lettering. Originally
built in 1948, Canadian National acquired these cars from GTW
in 1974. CN painted cars from this series in either blue or
brown. None of the blue cars in this ex-GTW series displayed
the ‘CN’ logo. The U-1 symbol with the yellow (safe) dot indicates
the car is not equipped with U-I type wheels, suspected of catastrophic
failures while in service. U-1 inspection symbols were applied
in 1978. By April 1988, all cars from this series had been removed
                  from CN’s roster.
