This 50’ mechanical reefer is painted reefer orange with aluminum roof and black ends. The UP and SP logos are printed in black and the reefer bears black lettering on sides and ends. It was built by Southern Pacific Equipment Co. at Roseville, CA, in April 1955, serviced in August 1955, and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. Series 300138-300297 was painted in the required painting and lettering specifications of the time for frozen food cars—the positions of the “SP” herald and the “UP” shield being reversed on each side of the car.
