This 40’ despatch stock car is painted GN Vermillion Red with ‘GREAT NORTHERN’ lettering displayed in white. Due to much of its track serving cattle ranch country, GN utilized a great number of stock cars. During the 1950s GN rebuilt older box cars into stock cars. This car is part of a 200 car series that was rebuilt in 1958 from outside braced box cars that were originally built in 1927.
