This 50’ standard box car with plug door is painted in Rio Grande’s gold and silver paint scheme with full road name and ‘Rio Grande’ speed lettering. It also carries the green ‘No Damage’ banner, black Great American logo and lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built by General American Transportation Corp. in May of 1957, GARX 50999 is equipped with Evans DF loaders and Duryea cushioned underframes. The Rio Grande obtained 100 of these cars, numbered into series 50900-50999, to provide service to on-line industries and distribution centers. This paint scheme is unusual in that it carries the full D&RGW road name.
