Prototype Information:
The 223 Series 2000 subseries, introduced in 1999, is considered the
definitive version of the 223 series. Designed with cost-efficiency
in mind, these cars feature a variety of external differences depending
on the manufacturer and production period, resulting in a rich diversity
of appearances within the same series. From 2013 onward, inter-car fall
prevention hoods were installed between the lead cars to improve platform
safety, which also added a distinctive visual element to the train formations.
Seen daily on the JR Kobe, Kyoto, and Biwako lines running as Special
Rapid and Rapid trains, this model supports a wide
range of consists, including mixed operation with 225 Series units.
Re-release with no specification changes from previous runs.
