Information:
The EF65 1000 and EF66 0 series are legendary Blue Train locomotives
of the JNR era. While the EF65 1000 series was a versatile DC electric
locomotive designed for double-heading operation and cold-region service,
the EF66 was introduced one year earlier in 1968 and featured over 50%
more output than the EF65 to meet the demands of high-speed freight
services. From 1985 onward, it was reassigned to Blue Train duties on
the Tokaido and Sanyo Main Lines.
They played a central role in hauling overnight sleeper trains such
as the 24 Series Type 25 Seto /
Asakaze, making them indispensable symbols the golden age of Japans
Blue Trains.
