Prototype
Information:
EF58 61 was designated from the ordering stage in July, 1953 as a locomotive
exclusively for use on imperial trains. The body was painted in a deep
crimson color known as Tame-iro and featured stainless steel decorative
bands along with unpainted, polished underframe components, giving it
a beautifully refined appearance.
Throughout the Showa era, it pulled imperial trains on numerous occasions
and was active in various events, such as hauling the Orient Express
'88 in 1988, making it an icon of the Japanese postwar era. It can be
compared to European electric locomotives like the DBs E10.12
(Rheingold) or UK Royal Train locomotives, and its prestigious history
makes it the perfect showpiece!
This product is a re-release. From this production run, headmarks for
Odoriko and Salon Express Soyokaze are now included.
The price and JAN code will also be updated while other specifications
remain unchanged from previous versions.
