| These cars were introduced early 1987 to fill the need for lightweight articulated intermodal cars on routes that did not have clearance for double stack cars.
Previously containers were carried on flat cars with a heavy tare weight, or single stacked in double stack cars, which is not an efficient use of equipment. These cars have a lower tare weight, and reduced slack action due to articulation. They can carry 20ft or 40-48ft containers.
The 5-unit container-only spice car pieces are cast in metal, and therefore have a very low center of gravity and sufficient weight to track very well even when not loaded. Recommended trucks: MTL-1033 for ends, MTL-1031 for center trucks
Decals: No specific decal exists, but Microscale "60-822 Trailer Train and TTX All-Purpose Spine Cars" has many of the pieces needed.
