On my way to work this morning I spotted a Herzon MPM (multi-purpose machine) sitting on the BNSF Golden Branch getting ready to begin work this week. A MPM is exactly as the name states, it does a lot. One man can operate and move it at up to 40mph. The crane has multiple attachments, grapple, magnet, bucket, and can be changed in five minutes. The crane moves the entire length of the center gon's by rolling across rails between the cars. For more info visit the Herzog web site.
