We also got to tour the Gerald Gentleman Station, a twin coal fired plant. Each unit produces 650 megawatts of power. The plant consumes up to 800 tons of coal an hour, or about 1½ coal trains per day.

Gerald Gentleman Station - We toured the GGS power station a few miles away. Here we are on top of the main building looking at 90 days coal reserve. The black line going off into the distance is an empty coal train waiting to be picked up.

Gerald Gentleman Station - This is a twin plant, containing two 650 megawatt units. The smoke stacks are 550' high, we are at about 300' up. That coal pile is huge.
