This
package contains four cargo doors that are a scale 7' wide x 9'
high. These doors are the same as those contained in our 1003
Santa Fe Station kit. The doors are normally located on the front
or side of older stations and buildings. These doors represent
wooden doors that were used to allow baggage carts and forklifts
to access the train loading and unloading areas. They would normally
exit into an area near the baggage cars where the carts would
be unloaded then dragged back into the station for reloading,
through the door.
The doors
were usually painted a contrasting color to help make a building
more attractive and to prevent weather damage to the wood. For
instance a white colored building might have its doors painted
a dark blue color.
