This 40’ standard box car with single Superior door and roofwalk is Pullman green and Omaha orange. It has the “Empire Builder” style lettering in Pullman green, the “Rocky” logo, white lettering and runs on black roller bearing trucks. 25 Box Express cars were among the GN order for 1000 all steel, 40’ box cars in March 1948. GN was the last major railroad to purchase all-steel box cars. Box Express cars were used for mail and express of traffic. GN 2547 survived on the roster until March 23, 1989.
