June 1, 1999 ushered in
a new era for railroading in the Northeast as Norfolk Southern and CSX carved
up Conrail. The New York Metropolitan Area suddenly found itself in the middle
of the action as dramatic changes swept the area.
Follow Green Frog photographer Richard Kugel as he documents action around New
York City in the months prior to the Conrail split and the weeks that followed.
