This two bay hopper is based on the 1932 design from ACF that was built from the mid 30's to the mid 60's by more than 10 different car builders and railroads. Missouri-Kansas-Texas received these cars in 1946 and 1947. There were 150 cars built for general dry bulk service. The cars are painted Pittsburgh Gondola Red with black trucks. During the transition era, Katy was known for their bright red diesels, but during the 1960's, much of this red equipment faded to an uneven pink. M-K-T switched to green and yellow and stuck with this until merging with UP in 1988.
