Tonight was was is called a Strawberry Moon. This full Moon is the lowest in the sky of any in the year. Well I couldn't pass up the chance to maybe shoot the moon with a train or two in the picture. Pete and I roamed about for several hours trying to find good spots to shoot pictures. Heres a few of them.

It was actually as dark in this picture as any of the others, but I used my digital camera and set the exposure length up a lot. I was impressed. (Click on picture for a larger view).

The Moon wandered from almost due East to South East, this was fairly early in the evening. (Click on picture for a larger view).

Same shot as above, but a little longer exposure to show the train sitting. It was a long empty coal train of BN Aluminators. (Click on picture for a larger view).

Too bad the 'A' was out, if I get bored I might try to draw it in. (Click on picture for a larger view).

Not much activity as Union Station, but it is such a neat building. (Click on picture for a larger view).

The Moon was nearly too bright tonight, you could read a book by it. (Click on picture for a larger view).

This is from the end of Blue Mountain Drive. We came up here to see if we could get an arial shot of the Big Ten Curves. As we were looking around we saw a train approaching from the east and realized it would be better to head to the Blue Mountain Drive crossing. (Click on picture for a larger view).

We get the the Crossing and hear the westbound train slow down and stop, probably at the Clay siding. Then we hear a train roaring through Plainview. This shot is over the Eastbound at the Blue Mountain Drive Crossing, a long mixed freight. (Click on picture for a larger view).

Just a couple of minutes after the eastbound, the westbound shows around the corner.. (Click on picture for a larger view).

The effect the mars light is pretty neat. (Click on picture for a larger view).

Last shot of the night. (Click on picture for a larger view).
