About 19 cars were behind the 3985. First were the traveling maintenence car and crew quarters, then the passenger portion of the train.
It was interesting to see how they grease such a large piece of equipment - a Steam Powered Grease Gun. They hooked the hose to a fitting on the cylinder. The gun was about two feet in length and fairly massive. One person would hold the grease gun to the location to be lubed (I assume a grease fitting). The other person would feed the grease into the gun. The grease was solid in a stick several inches long, probably 1-1/2" in diameter.
