KEY
& Instructions:
ABC: You will notice that these have a half etched fold line near the top of
the part. These stirrups are meant to mount directly to the under frame of a freight
car with a screw or glue (note the hole in the center). If done correctly, you
will be left with an ultra-durable stirrup that looks great!
DEF: On cars where the under frame is cluttered and styles A-B aren't easily
applied, DEF are your answer. These mount either directly into the floor of the
car or literally up and into the wall of the body of the car. To mount, simply
mark your holes and drill with a #80 drill bit. Note: Dimples are provided on
D so you aren't left guessing how far down the stirrup should hang.
G: This type of stirrup is different from those noted above. Unlike styles
A-F which mount under the car, G mounts directly into the side of the car. While
carefully grasping the "legs" of the stirrup in toothless pliers, push
down on the 'U' shaped bottom part so you create a 90 degree bend directly above
the double set of rivets. Next, mark where you should drill your two mounting
holes on your model, and then drill the hole with a #80 drill bit. Once installed,
you should only see the stirrup from the very top of the rivet portion. The bottom
of the rivet area marks where the bottom of the freight car should be.
