The engine frame is
of the split-frame type. Gears on the bottom were easy to access
by removing a plastic plate. It should be unnecessary to ever
disassemble this engine for maintenance. |

Very smooth performer.
Realistic speed range (top speed measures at about 101 mph). Creeps
along without any problems, very smooth starts and acceleration. |
| Sound/Noise
level: |
A slight amount of
gear noise but after a break-in period this quieted down significantly. |
| Overall
Value: |
Another excellent
offering from Bachmann. We test ran three new out of the box and
did not notice any unusual wobble or noise. All three ran far
better than 95% of the steam available on the market today. |
