The Mack
Model "B was first produced in 1949 and remained in production
until 1965 when it was replaced by the Mack Model "R".
The Model "R" was in continuous production until 2003.
Both series of trucks enjoyed along service life with many of
the "R" models still in continuous service. Even today,
a Model "B" can occasionally be seen in operation. During
their lifetimes, both types were used for any number of tasks.
These ranged from two and three axle tractors to tow trucks, to
construction trucks. A Mack Model "B" or Model "R"
could handle any job that required a heavy duty truck.
Athearn's latest "N" Scale vehicles are exact miniatures
of the Mack "B" and "R" family of trucks.
They will be available equipped for tow truck, dump truck, mixer
and over-the-road tractor service. Each variant is modeled from
documented Mack trucks and captures the distinctive qualities
of each prototype.
