READY? - The first run of the SD70/75s were drop-in DCC ready, but
the engines were equipped with a 3 pole motor. The motor in the current run has
been upgraded to a 5 pole. This has come at the price of the DCC drop-in readiness.
The Mashima motor has contacts on the end near the motor shaft. These contacts
come in direct contact with the frame. Its a very simple modification to make
these engines drop-in DCC ready. Athearn has released a Service Announcement to
